How can I stand out in a saturated skincare market?

Hey beauty boss!
I wish I had understood what it meant to create an actual brand before I launched my business. Instead, I had a logo made, picked some colors and a cute font, and started a business.
As time went on, I started hearing this word branding - and I wasted so much time investing in how my brand looked. I revamped my labels, created a brand board, and updated my website to be more aesthetically pleasing.
It wasn't until about 2 years ago that I finally figured it out.
At the heart of branding is your business identity.
- What is your purpose?
- What do you value?
- What should people expect when they shop with you?
- And lastly, how does your brand feel?
Yes, you want a brand that looks good. But more than that, you want a brand that represents something.
I've done it all. I've tried to mimic brand colors, photo shoots, captions, sales, etc. I was all over the place because I didn't know any better.
It's easy to get caught up in what other small businesses look like, but copying them will not make your brand successful. Quite frankly, it's hard to keep up with what everyone else is doing year after year. It's expensive and confusing for not only yourself, but your customers.
