I was being prideful

I was being prideful

Hey Beauty Boss,

I was being prideful.

Last month, I was praying about whether I should apply for a work-from-home job. I was looking for a way to bring more income into the house since business has been slower.

After praying, I realized I have not been working 40 hours a week in my own business for months. What if I just worked more in my business?

Three weeks ago, I sat down and pivoted the focus on selling my wholesale products. I’ve made a lot of money before. I’ll just run that back.

I turned on an ad and did the things that had always worked before. I tried my best. I was intentional.

I made some sales, but nothing substantial.

LOL. I’m laughing as I think about it because we can really have it all planned out. We know this new plan will work, until it doesn’t.

So, I prayed again.

I realized I was being prideful. It wasn’t out of ill intent, but it was from a place of seeking sales, and I can’t go back there. There was a bad place for me.

So I began talking to God and here’s the question that was presented: What if my business never makes 5 figures a month again? Would I still do it? Would I still be grateful?

As I was walking and talking, I just smiled because God brought me back to the same place I was in 2022. After going back and forth for months, I fully surrendered to selling wholesale and helping other women start and grow their business. God has used entrepreneurship over and over to teach me what I need to surrender, how to trust him, and how to get out of the way.

The answer to the question is yes. It humbled me in an unexpected way.

What if my business exists to help other entrepreneurs put their business in God’s hands? What if my business exists to share my journey with others as a testimony of God’s goodness? What if my business exists to strengthen my faith so that I can encourage others when business is tough? What if my business exists to help other businesses share Christ with their community?

What if my business was never about how much money I could make, but how many people can be impacted?

As small businesses we dream of the next milestone. We can’t wait to post about the next big thing in our business. We can’t wait for people to know that our small business is making moves.

I want to encourage you to reflect on your journey and ask yourself, “What if I never make it to that next goal?”

Would you be okay?

Take your answer to the Lord in prayer, and ask him to help you understand how your business fits in building his kingdom?

With love,
