3 Ways To Cut Costs In Your Skincare Business in 2025

Just about everything has went up, and if you want to, you can raise prices - most people will understand. What I have chosen to do instead is find creative ways to cut costs.
Here are 3 things I have done to cut costs without impacting quality.
- The first thing I have done is switch to thermal printing labels when appropriate. Instead of spending money on professional thank you cards and stickers - I’m using my thermal printer to print labels. I use the 4x6 shipping labels for thank you cards and 2 inch circle labels for stickers. I’ll link the printers & labels at the end of the email. Don’t sleep on designing a super cute label in Canva and printing it on a color thermal label!
- The second thing I’ve done is reduced variations of scents and sizes. The more skus of a product you offer the more inventory you have to keep in stock. Inventory is money. I analyzed my data to find out the top sizes and scents for products, and I’m only offering what I can sell through the fastest. The faster you sell through your inventory, the faster you can get your investment back.
- Lastly, I stopped shopping in bulk for ingredients and containers that I couldn’t sell through quickly. I went from buying 5 gallons to 1 gallons, or sometimes only 32 oz. Yes, the cost of goods increases, BUT, all my money is not tied up in inventory. For example, I used to buy 5 gallons of apricot oil at a time. Now I only buy 32 oz. 5 gallons would cost me about $225 after shipping and taxes, where I’m only spending about $30 for 32 oz. Sure the cost per oz increases, but I’m saving nearly $200 in inventory when buying only what I need and can sell through quickly. You have to know your cogs in order to make this work for you.
